Marie Selby Gardens
A former estate sited on sparkling Sarasota Bay, the 14 acres of the Selby Botanical Gardens are home to 12 specialty areas, including a conservatory. Their world famous collection of epiphytes includes more than 6000 orchid species. Our one and one-half hour small group guided tour will end with a catered lunch in the cafe under the magnificent banyan trees.
Please visit http://selby.org/ to acquaint yourself before our trip.
Tropiflora Gardens and Nursery
After lunch, the bus will take us to Tropiflora, www.tropiflora.com. Home to the largest Bromeliad collection in the world, and thousands of other rare exotic plants, including succulents, this nursery’s owners have spent decades traveling throughout the world to bring these plants to Sarasota. Our own Thomas Hecker will serve as your personal shopping consultant.
